From the perspective of Carlos- "So, you really wanted to talk to me, huh, big boy?" Her question was followed by a little nudge with her elbow, a teasing lilt to her voice. So, that's the way she was gonna be? Two could play at that game. Without warning I pulled her close and moved my face right in front of hers, my lips just a couple of centimeters away. The effect was immediate and it made me grin. "Seems to me you wanted to talk to me just as badly," I observed with a little smirk. I could feel her breath against my mouth, and I didn't have to wait more than a second before she closed the distance, pressing her lips against mine. I responded eagerly. Why the fuck wouldn't I? Teasing was one thing, but if someone was willingly and happily giving themselves to me, I was more than okay with doing the same.

From the perspective of Annie- "Okay," he said, looking me over. "Alright, here's an easy one for you. Never have I ever gotten high." For a moment I didn't move at all, but then I leaned forward, pressing my lips against his. "Well... can't say I haven't," I told him with a shrug. "I smoke joints or eat edibles when I get too stressed out. What about you?" "Same," he replied, then continued. "Well, not quite just for stress, not too much to be stressed about these days." "No?" I pursed my lips, tilting my head in thought. "You work as someone who delivers food-" "And other packages," he added with a chuckle. "- and that doesn't stress you out? I mean, I work in a bodega and I know customers can be pretty dang bitchy." I was actually really curious about this now. "Well it's not that it doesn't stress me out," Carlos started, scratching a little at the scruff on his jaw. "But there's worse things, you know? So a few mean words here and there aren't gonna stop me from sleeping at night." "Heh..." I smiled wryly at that. He wasn't wrong; I mean, I'd been through stressful times, way worse than having to deal with crappy people I'd see once in a blue moon or less. "Okay, maybe you're right about that."

From the perspective of Nisha- I stared at the phone, still sitting in bed with the blanket around my waist. It was barely 7 o'clock, and this email had been sent an hour earlier. "Dear Miss Laurent, We regret to inform you that your position at our company has been terminated as of-" I dropped the phone on my covered lap, letting out a cold breath. It wasn't surprising, really, but it was still a punch to the gut. That had been the bulk of my income; my job at the coffee shop was minimum wage and I got tips, but I was still dependent on my data entry job and the extra commissions I could make there. Fuck... it was really pouring hard on my life right now. How the hell was I supposed to afford a place to stay now? The sound of the shower turning off pulled me from my thoughts. I was still in Alex's basement apartment, in his bed... we'd gotten back last night from Walmart and made out as if our lives depended on it... but no sex. Too bad, because at least that would have been fun to reminisce over while digesting this news. I just wanted to go back to sleep now and pretend I hadn't gotten the letter. But I couldn't, could I? I had to get up, get ready, and find another fucking job.
