I grow it room temp under a humidity dome. It's the BE-3726 but unfortunately it's very hard to find since it's an older hybrid. They pop up a couple of times a year on ebay. That's where I got mine.

Yep! Ampullaria genes are crazy strong. They're like the basset hound of carnivorous plants, where you know instantly when you see a hybrid, because it looks mostly like an amp with different detailing. These are (in order) ampullaria x raffelsiana, ampullaria x veitchii, and ampullaria x hamata

Thanks yes usually they're some combination of red, green and purple.

Nepenthes ampullaria (variegated) This lil guy was just a tiny sprout when I got it but it's finally starting to leaf-jump a bit. I don't think there's a lot of these carnivorous plants out there.

FWIW this is the range for s. purpurea from wikipedia. They're quite fine with cold. They're either insulated under snow cover or leaf fall. As long as the rhizome doesn't freeze then you're fine.

I have had this sarracenia flava potted for >10 years. It's one big rhizome underneath the soil. They really like to be fertilized with a balanced non-urea fertilizer when they're potted. For a pot that size I use a couple dozen grains of osmocote 3x yearly, plus monthly half-strength maxsea.

Sarracenia x 'Saurus' is coloring up nicely too. I sourced this directly from the man himself, Phil Faulisi. 2nd most expensive plant in my collection but worth every penny.

I love a nice sarracenia leucophylla and this is definitely a nice one. It's one of the unlabelled mixed rhizomes that I got from @calcarnivores.bsky.social a couple of years ago.

One month makes all the difference. Sarracenia flava, sold as 'maxima' but it doesn't have the yellow flowers. It's all the same rhizome as one giant pitcher plant.

Hybrid carnivorous plant, Sarracenia x 'Saurus' opening up next to its flowers. It's 75cm/30in from soil to tip of the pitcher. This spring I crossed it with another of my extra-tall pitcher plants to try to grow my own giant hybrid.

The sibling carnivorous plant of my last post, this is nepenthes veitchii (k) x [maxima x (stenophylla x lowii) x (Rokko x veitchii)]. The stripe colors are very similar but this has recently developed the classic veitchii flared peristome.

That's a sarracenia something making flowers haha

I've had this carnivorous plant for about 18 months and it just keeps surprising me with the shocking colors. Seedgrown nepenthes [((lowii x veitchii) x boschiana) x burbidgea]-purple x [maxima x (stenophylla x lowii) x (Rokko x veitchii)]

#sarracenia start growth later at higher latitudes, but it's quite worth the wait. This is my 13 year old flava 'maxima' that reliably grows 20+ inch tall pitchers. It's my oldest carnivorous plant. I cut off about 15 flower buds a few weeks ago to let it focus on pitcher production.

Nepenthes spectabilis x platychila BE-3760 is developing the stripes of the spectabilis and the peristome shape of platychila. Mine is developing more of a tubular shape than expected, but I really like its progress so far.

#nepenthes naga x tenuis seedgrown

Flytraps.com made a batch as an exclusive hybrid a couple of years ago and I snagged one. It's nearly black irl

Complex #nepenthes hybrid from toddstropicals on ebay, this is consistently one of my showiest carnivorous plants

Friday fun fact, you can chop off #pinguicula flowers and put them in water with a touch of sugar, just like other flowers, and they'll last 7-10 days.

imho all new nepenthes should have pictures like this for scale (source carnivero in-house truncata)

Bonus close-up of the spatulata because it's looking drooly af

My carnivorous plant pickle-jar terrarium is doing well. It has live sphagnum moss, utricularia blanchetii, drosera spatulata, drosera capensis and a pinguicula emarginata x hemiepiphyitica.

#pinguicula gigantea 'red flush'

Is that one of the okefenokee swamp locations? I might have a clone from that exact colony or nearby, the strong copper coloration is unique among s. minor varieties.

This hybrid is such a fun combination of the parents; #nepenthes ampullaria x aristolochioides BE-3658

Also when I get 100 followers I'll start posting pics of my veitchii. ;)

If you want godmode fly control then a big sarracenia will handle it. I have a >10 yr old s. flava 'maxima' on my balcony, I keep my door open if temps allow, and I'm near the roof vent for this building's trash chute. Only 3 flies inside all year. Flava or leucophylla works best.
