The obvious solution in theory, is to build homes for social rent, either as Council Houses or through Housing Associations. But neither Housing Authorities nor Housing Associations can afford to buy these homes at a rate that makes profits for the developers.
Can anyone suggest a solution?

In a planning committee we were told by one of the biggest Housing Developers that sales of new homes has dropped appreciably. The property market drives how many homes they build.
Given there are 100's of thousands of homes, granted planning but not being built, this makes these targets nonsense 2/
