Most countries have tariffs on certain goods to protect domestic industries- on dairy, poultry, and eggs stabilizes prices and support farmers.
The difference is that Canada's are standard trade policies, while Trump's were with the intention of annexing Canada through economic force.

The tariffs are not about fentanyl. Trump is attempting to annex Canada through economic force. He is allied with Russia and they have been knocking at the Artic border, toying with "Manifest destiny" in regards to a vision of expanding US territory. More than ever we need to be working with Europe.
