Was it really rigged though?

Like 5 pop albums were nominated for AOTY. I loved Cowboy Carter but just considering the numbers… it’s not surprising.

I would love to see a more diverse genres nominated next year though.

I don’t know. Renaissance also one Best Album for Dance and she still loss AOTY.

I still theorize that the pop vote will be split pretty heavily which might work in her favor.

I mean it makes sense. She gotta a lot of backlash. But honestly I was feeling pretty hopeful for her. Glad she won.

Fair enough. I agree with that. Not every little thing needs a discussion.

If you don’t mind me asking, but couldn’t disengaging from conflict cause more issues down the line?

I mean there is a way to have a conversation without arguing right. I mean you can have your principles but sometimes conflict happens because the other person doesn’t feel understood.

Men in film do not have the same challenges as women probably do. There are a lot more successful male directors than female for example. So men may not need the same guidance or support so the need for a male only group just isn’t really there.

No, I don’t think they are inherently sexist. They exist to provide tools and opportunities to women that may otherwise be overlooked or underfunded. They also provide opportunities for women to network amongst each other.

Again you are misinformed. It’s 30% not 50%. And a film can meet any 2 of the 4 standards. It doesn’t have to be for on-screen representation.

Not necessarily. I think that’s an assumption you are making. Just because a corporation may reach out to that women’s org doesn’t mean they don’t network or make themselves available to others.

Also the Oscars are just one example; corporations across industries have adopted DEI policy and each one probably has a different approach. So my point remains.

Wrong! There are four standards: on-screen presentation, creative leadership, industry access, and audience development. And a film only has to meet two. It also considers gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation/identity, and disability. However, I agree that it's not comprehensive to all groups.

Are you okay? Omni isn't a government agency; its a human resources services organization. They provide services to a bunch of companies which is why I used them. www.omnihr.co/about-us

You really think a company that is looking to hire someone would only go to one organization? Its about diversifying the applicant pool to include different kinds of people not excluding one over the other.

Last point to state “entire purpose of DEI is to improve the ratio of POC in the workplace” is just a false claim. There are 1,001 ways to develop and enforce DEI policies. Its a pretty broad framework. Diversity, equity, and inclusion can be achieved in lots of ways not just by focusing on race.
