It's illegal to be gay in Saudi Arabia. Gay foreigners like Cook can be deported (but ofc the Saudis didn't follow their own law there when he visited to make a deal for Apple) & gay Saudis can be jailed or executed. Bigotry is the poison of the world.

Ya know what's funny - every time ICE & DHS hit a different city, that city suddenly has "rioting protestors" supposedly attacking them. Folk in costumes, clergy, grandmas. Is it a travelling riot? Or just maybe folk everywhere don't like ICE or feel safe w/ them around grabbing their neighbors.

Cruz was the frontrunner in the Repub 2016 primary. Backers threw a ton of $ into his campaign to do it. But Trump was far more appealing to the white supremacist evangelicals. So they all deserted Cruz & backed Trump. Cruz had to crawl to Trump & got nothing. Even in Texas, they hate him.

As long as he can stand, walk a bit & talk any words, they'll prop him up.

It's pretty funny that the Republicans used to scream that the ACA would destroy the precious insurance companies who were so much better at providing healthcare than government death panels & now Repubs call those companies evil scammers.

This is like the 90's when everybody had ideas for mysteries that were going to be "not like regular mysteries". & of course not-SFF SFF has been a marketing ploy since the 1960's.

They always treat novelists as if they're screenwriters, publishers like studios & literary agents like they're talent agents. This is in part bc licence book publishing is weird & makes no sense to people, especially in Hollywood, so they don't think they can show it on screen even if they got it.

This fits w/ the anti-civil rights mobilization of white evangelicals by segregationists in the mid-70's, which formed the base electorate for Reagan in 1980 & have dominated the Republicans since.

Yes, Trump dominates among the *white* working class (if defined as people without a college degree). But even here, religion played a key role: In 2024, about 86 percent of non-college white evangelicals voted for Trump – vs. only a minority of the non-evangelical white working class.

Almost everyone with a high level of racial resentment tended to vote for Trump in the 2024 election, regardless of educational attainment. Conversely, those with a low racial resentment score tended to support Harris, whether they had a college degree or not.

After the election, prominent commentators immediately reached for grand explanations that were intended to match the emotional impact of what many perceived to be a shocking victory. This was nothing short of an era-defining rightward realignment, were were told.

They can't afford vocational school anymore than they can afford college. They can't afford to supply their own set of expensive tools. They get shafted on pay, union busted, laid off any time Ford execs want to boost stock price or seek a government bailout.
