Seems great, it definitely seems like it all clicked into place. Good explanation too. I don't often see devs try to explain their games like this. Definitely will be trying this

I've had similar experiences because unreal by default puts a gross "realism" filter/lookup table on your game which makes textures look off and washed out
You can thankfully turn it off but then harsh lights can clip and bloom is kinda broken so it's still problematic lol

Assuming it had gameplay I liked yes. The game would get bonus points for letting me play in low res like ps1 maybe with some dithering

Hmm tough, both look nice. The second one looks cleaner but the comparison is between two different scenes. The first is busy with buildings plopped next to each other and that's inherently going to look more videogamey I think

I got a new tv before finishing the show and I remember those first two shots really popping in hdr on my new tv. Castlevania was a fun way to test my new tv. Great art 🔥
