It is normal, that’s how humans work! I listen in a different way than when I’m not working, and I never ever feel dumped on. I’ve learned so much from ppl who come to therapy, wisdom and insight from clients change our lives too.

This is where the therapist needs to earn their pay: it’s good for them to take the wheel and ask thoughtful questions, find those gold seams to follow and set up a little more structure as support. (I say this as a rando therapist, your post showed up on my feed and I had to chime in!)

Recently visited with my young daughter and noticed that cars stopped for us at every corner. Awareness of and respect for pedestrians is atypical behavior in the US! We love PDX, the only reason I’m hesitant to go back is fear of the federal gov’s aggression against its own people.
