Part of the funding is supposed to have a delivery deadline for next year if I remember.

The beyond councils control thing is still weird to me. Isn't it an issue with the hospital not paying its share of s106 funding for their new car park. ~£700k in total not sure how much has been paid so far.

I'm sure they could. I suspect the ongoing maintenance costs where what stopped them being put in.
Might be worth an FOI to find out though.

The towers were surveyed to see of they could be put in. But they aren't going to be.

Missed opportunity with so much funding going into the bridge and central motorway.

Would be a great active travel connection when they eventually remove a lane and build a cycle path over the bridge.

Trains and battery trucks, maybe limited gantries on motorways.

Putting the emoji for rolling your eyes at the thought of people being killed by drivers is pretty abhorrent.

Because we are talking about vehicles being used as weapons to murder people. But you seem to be downplaying that for some reason.

Just as someone that uses a vehicle as a weapon shouldn't be employed in a job that requires them to use a vehicle, even if they aren't the offenders first choice.

No target shooting is a sport and nothing ends up dead.

If anything the fact the licence effectively can't be permanently revoked shows the weakness of the system.

As soon as someone gets a licence it's seen as a right not a privilege.

Guns are used for sports. Although you may call it killing, deer stalking and vermin control with guns can be jobs.
December 17, 2025 at 9:54 AM
And although it's not as bad as the Gateshead flyover, you can see where the concrete of the central motorway is crumbling.

They had to sneak that funding in with the Tyne Bridge repairs package.
December 16, 2025 at 9:40 AM
This is questionable considering the state of the Tyne Bridge before renovations and the long battle to get funding from the government for the maintenance.

And are increasing speed limits for vans and HGVs so drivers don't get angry. I don't get how that's inline with their goals.

Also shouldn't the BBC have something in there about how speed limit reductions reduce road deaths and collisions. Or is that not relevant?

Yeah they were removed and replaced by a new wind farm. Now it's 5 turbines producing 41.5 MW so a pretty big step up from the original.
December 14, 2025 at 11:23 AM
Even crossing some of the side roads. I'm pretty confident trying to take priority where I feel it's safe. But down that road all the way to to the sea front there are way too many wide junctions and it's just not safe.

Good reminder on the need to keep reporting drivers on their phones though.
December 13, 2025 at 10:37 AM
Yeah, that the local NHS trust didn't even put in a bid to run the service they were currently running was a huge red flag. I wonder how much this "saved" the council.
December 10, 2025 at 7:42 AM
Should ask to see the claims the council have made against the drivers insurance if they keep hitting all these bike racks. Surely there must be at least one right?
November 4, 2025 at 9:30 PM
Honestly not too sure on that one.

They are pretty week at the feel. The pole broke away from the base on one side about a month before the other.

Tthere was a bike on it that didn't seem damaged when the whole thing went.

Amazing! I meant to post this earlier but got sidetracked.

Now I know it's possible there will be a few more requests for repairs to come. Starting with the ones next to monument.
