Hopefully the values of these promissory notes will be visible so we can see how the combined value compares to the notional size of Russia's gold reserves in central bank and NWF.

I suspect those assets will be over subscribed pretty soon

The only Comfy Chair in the whole of Russia will be in Putin's office

It is you who appear to believe that charities will be "breaking the law" if they refuse to be involved in this travesty.

If such a requirement does appear, my involvement with my charity will be over. Sad but necessary. Gangmaster for the Home Secretary is not a role I wish to fulfil.

Well we can easily establish that the victims of this policy won't be paid so they aren't workers.

They will be carrying out tasks for charities who would benefit from their work

They will be coerced to do this by the home office.

So "slaves" it is.

Fine. As a charity trustee I don't want a status that would require us to use slaves. The Home Office can get in the bin.
November 18, 2025 at 6:00 AM
Oh I will. I'm not expecting any reversal of the gross sentiments already expressed, nor found any in what I've read so far. Just some finessing/turd polishing.

Thing is, if it is not actually Hone Office policy to rob people why say that you will on national media? For the lolz?

Sickening.
November 17, 2025 at 7:31 PM
So the Home Secretary, won't let asylum seekers work, might seize their valuables and will enslave them.

Gross.
November 17, 2025 at 6:53 PM
Now he may have been speaking off the cuff but the fact is he said it. The fact they Home Office have "clarified" this subsequently (without ruling out seizures unequivocally) certainly seems like the hostile reaction caught them on the hop.

""What we're saying, though, is if someone comes over with a bag full of gold rings, that's different to a family heirloom or personal items.""

Alex Norris, Home Office junior minister, earlier today. So they were planning to do *some* robbing at least.

Yep, the "bait" being if the investor opts to receive coupon and redemption in yuan then in theory it protects them from shock rouble devaluations as they'd be paid in nice stable yuan.

Of course this being Russia, there will be shenanigans (special taxes, forced reinvestment, ...)

As the Queen has noted, Russia is short of sulphur and likely don't want to use what they have to preserve fruits.

That is assuming they have any fruit to preserve after their various agriculture issues...
