The incomparable Lamp of Murmuur open their show at Brooklyn’s The Meadows with the classic “Harbinger of Blasphemies to Come.” In my humble opinion, this song has the single greatest metal riff of the 21st century.

When I was a small child, I was fascinated by my parents’ music box they’d acquired in Italy while on their honeymoon in 1963. It played the iconic melody of “Isle of Capri” if you wound the lever at the bottom, and I would listen to it over and over. It’s now mine, which is bittersweet.
