This shutdown is about one thing only: whether or not the right can force the center and left to align themselves with tyranny, not because the right needs the cooperation, but because the right needs the left to not be seen as a viable alternative to the right.
Reminder that the republicans don't actually need any democrats to vote to end the shutdown, they are just trying to force the democrats to align with the republicans' deeply unpopular positions so that voters will feel unrepresented and lose motivation to vote against the republicans.
