I would modify this statement. The Tories want to English similar degrees to once more be the preserve of people with family wealth, to study in 'elite' settings, like they were up to the mid-20th century.

I wish the author hadn't framed this in anti-trans terms. Women's toilets being trans-inclusive is not a risky innovation; rather it was the accepted norm, until transphobes began creating a moral panic about it.
Paragraph from the article linked in the post I am replying to. But what if a harm is alleged? Anti-trans campaigners have long argued that making women’s toilets trans inclusive will allow sexual predators to pretend to be trans to gain access. In such cases the liberty principle asks us to engage in a careful consequentialist balancing. Will the harm being prevented outweigh the harm caused by a prohibition? Could the same goals be achieved by other means? Would the prohibition add unduly to the state’s power?

I'd rather be an X-man. An X-Man is someone who has found themself, someone who knows who they are and accepted it with a grace and wisdom many people will never understand. An X-Man might have been given a rough hand in their life, but rather than letting that crush them, they have found a way to rise up. The X-Men don't care what you look like. They don't care if you are rich or poor. They don't care if you can lift a bus or barely lift a scrap of paper. They know it's what's in your heart that matters. When everyone else tallies up the mistakes and wrong turns you have made in your life, and remind you of it every chance they get, the X-Men say, 'We don't care who you were. What matters is who you are NOW. An X-Man extends their hand to those who need it. If you feel you can't overcome the challenges around you, the X-Men are there to run you through the Danger Room and support you every time you fall, until one happy day, you stop falling altogether. An X-Man gives you the truth you need to hear, and the kindness you can't forget. When society scorns the colors you wear, the X-Men say, let's dress up fancy and have a goddamn gala. The X-Men don't erase the past. They remember the Holocaust, they remember Jim Crow, and they actively seek to make sure it doesn't happen again. Your family rejects you? The X-Men say, they can go straight to hell. Come be part of OUR family. Other hero teams are often about protecting wealth and the status quo and the government and peace and quiet. Martha's most awkward moment in the article. He tried to make a Joke about reading Atomic Habits and The Diary of a CEO, which fell completely flat. Partly my fault as I hadn't heard of the book so didn't get the joke at all. If Books Could Kill podcast episode page. Reads. This week we're discussing Atomic Habits, a book about how to use science (and also some stuff that's definitely not science) to train yourself to be a more functional person.

Alexa Moore, from The Rainbow Project, said it was "just a little bit strange that the department's only really major piece of research on what LGBT pupils go through in their schools has been removed at roughly the same time as the removal of that guidance on how to support trans young people in school".
