We walked around in costumes handing out candy tonight.

Our self-serve station 2.5 hours later: Chocorooms gone, candy almost gone, chocolate mostly still there. The funniest part is the chocolate in the candy bowl -- someone chose an Almond Joy...then exchanged it for candy instead. 😅

OMG, we got the exact same two variety bags at Costco.

He chose the candy because he loves candy, I chose the chocolate because I like chocolate (plus my favorite thing to get as a child was a Reese's peanut butter cup).

...we also got Chocorooms, because CHOCOROOMS.

Adjusted for NZD->USD, I pay a little more at Costco for grass-fed New Zealand butter here in the United States. 😅 I paid $11.99 for 0.908kg last August, which is $20.96 NZD.

Got my flu shot at my annual physical last week; got my COVID shot at CVS earlier this week. Insurance covered both.

One difference this year: I had to affirm on the CVS webform that I would get sick if I caught COVID. CVS didn't ask for specifics. (I live in California; rules differ per state).

California anecdote: my husband and I both got the updated COVID-19 vaccine at CVS last night. We just had to affirm on the scheduling webpage that we had "a" health condition that put us at risk if we caught COVID.

CVS did NOT ask for ANY specifics OR proof of the health condition.

A fierce fire was burning in a commercial building in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon. Officials said the blaze had reached “major emergency status” with more than 88 firefighters on scene. Heavy smoke was billowing across the sky from the structure. The fire was on the city block bounded by South Los Angeles Street, East 4th Street, Wall Street and Winston Street. “Due to heavy storage load, firefighters were not able to reach the seat of the fire,” the Los Angeles Fire Department said. “Additional resources are en route. Residents are advised to avoid the area.”

The Governor has no power or authority to resist that move. Same applies the Adjutant General (the top officer of each state guard) and the soldiers. But they are still not allowed to obey illegal orders. This is why I said a few times through the Spring that governors needed to have serious talks with their state adjutant generals and find out just who they were, their values, understanding of their responsibilities, etc.
