I am also too nice but have been taken advantage of ALOT for it. So I am now quite jaded. They might not have interpreted your laughing as mocking either, I wouldn't have. Just as a "I don't know how to respond" kinda thing. I've done it myself and just laughed!

Honestly I've done exactly this before. Someone has come up to me, said something about how I look and I've just laughed. I don't think they really have much right to comment on anything about you tbh and it's just a bit rude? So I wouldn't worry about it!
