You won't hit two centuries for a couple of years yet. First adhesive postage stamps were in 1840 from the UK.

I wouldn't worry too hard about it. There's an annual poll from Linn's Stamp News in the US which has categories titled "Worst Design" and "Least Necessary." It's interesting to me what stamp collectors think are good/bad from the USPS.

A slight correction: the stamps seen in your post are for Washington, DC, the capital of the United States. The state of Washington is better represented by these stamps that I'm posting here.
