By the way @miss-machete.bsky.social, not sure if you’re a comic reader or not but if so, look into the Aliens omnibus collections. The late 80s/early 90s books could be considered a “what if” type story of a different continuity post Aliens. Might be worth a read for you.

That’s such a great way of describing them.
It’s interesting to have a series of movies with different directors for each installment and different visions but still having to have some shared canon.
It’s disjointed but it works. Not always well, but it works.

It’s the guilty pleasure of the series for me. It’s actually not a bad movie until they shit the bed with the newborn. But that’s slowly grown on me. Funnily enough I liked the hybrid from Romulus and how it looked like a xeno/engineer mix.

I like it quite a bit. Also, watch the assembly cut if you can. It’s usually included in the quadrilogy or blu-ray set. It may not change your mind about the movie but it definitely fleshed some things out.

For a long time the second was my favorite of this series. But as I get older, I really appreciate the first one more and more.
