Memories of my youth. I was on holiday in Arizona from UK and by chance I picked up a leaflet which showed she and James Taylor- my teenage playlist- were performing in a week. I got tickets!!! I’d seen James once but never Carol. Bucket list stuff.

First property bought 1983. Mortgage was 3x a PhD research asst salary and I was on a full grant for MA. No student debt, of course. And prospect of well paying, secure careers ahead. Currently on market for 9x a PhD research asst salary, student debt and shaky career prospects. It’s not laziness.

I disagree. If my g’daughter takes up her sport professionally I have a real issue with a man competing against her. Male puberty gives him an inbuilt physical advantage. I also dread she ever needs a rape crisis centre and so needs an all female space. Most thinking women agree with me.

We can accept and respect trans, but just not in our safe spaces or sports! Pretty obvious I would say. And how on earth can anyone ‘feel’ like a woman. Just as you don’t, why on earth should a man feeling he’s a woman take precedence over a woman.

But not to women. Women’s safe spaces are safe for women again. As are sports. As are all those things deemed ‘women only’. So many men upset at women gaining their sex based rights once more.

I’m talking of the politicians and commentators, not normal people. When a Tory politician or Daily Mail
Columnist advises their kid to forego university (when they ‘could’ go) then you may have a point. Not the kid who didn’t make the grade or wasn’t interested.

Thank God I live in UK where mammograms, various other screenings, vaccines, hospital treatments, doctor visits are free at point of use. Free mammogram every three years or if a lump etc appears in the interim. Why on earth do people think anyone would want to join the US?
