AND i googled the photographer’s name and it appears to be MV Slingerland, who worked in the entomology department at Cornell University (my alma mater) in the late 1800s!!!

Omg I feel so validated that this happened to other people. A few months ago my whooole feed became ed content despite me never interacting with it. I have no history with eds and I feel fairly secure, but even then it was disturbing and made me think more negatively than usual

I got my start in the museum world interning at the museum that produces the Paleozoic pals!They also have the largest whole euypterid fossil. They’ve had some hard times financially over the past couple years so everyone in the comments please buy the plushies! Here’s my Tiktaalik (wallace)!

I did some surface-level googling, and here’s what I found: The author’s real name was Frances Theodora Parsons, and this book was the first field guide to North American wildflowers.

Lastly, here’s the cover and title page. How to Know the Wild Flowers by Mrs William Starr Dana, illustrated by Marion Satterlee and Elsie Louise Shaw. Satterlee did the illustrations in black and white, while Shaw did the ones in color.
