A life of PolymyalgiaRheumatica, steroids and paracetamol is what happens when your immune system forgets what its purpose is; sort of like some politicians. I still use the semi;colon.

There are places in this world where people get up, harness their pony to the cart and go to work. They do it day after day without complaint. Their meager wages are enough to feed their children and buy a pair of trainers once a year. I salute their sanguine tenacity and their enduring dignity.

I was born in a small valley with nothing but a sawmill, a general store, some Japanese WW2 internees, a commune of Russian pacificists and a scattering of DPs (displaced people). After travelling across most of the globe I settled in one of the most sophisticated, complex cities in the world. 🤫
