I wanted to follow up here as last month Twitter's monthly active users as of August 2025 is now 586 million. So it's at new peak. So much for a collapse.
To put this in perspective, Twitter reached at peak of ~541M monthly active user in 2023. A 30% drop puts them still above 2020 levels. Twitter users had been rather constant from 2017-2020 this "collapse" really just reflects a return to pre-COVID/pre-"everybody Works From Home" numbers.
Good news: Twitter is collapsing.
And this chart doesn't even show the last two weeks—which have seen the largest exodus in site history.
There are reports from Newsweek and others that Twitter may merge with Truth Social.
If that happens, the last collapse of Twitter may happen almost overnight.
