Given the prompt was “tangled thread”, I think it’s kind of obvious what I went with here: tangled up in a playful pet yarn ball.🧶
Overall, one of favorite pieces to come out of last year even if it’s kind of simple. There’s fun in simplicity and just creating something. :)

This piece was made with black sharpie, markers, and colored pencils. Normally I stick to just colored pencils for traditional works but was experimenting with my markers and trying to get more use for them. The pencils were used to make the texture lines along her body, hair, and yarn pet.

Orange. A nice contrast to the blue in her design. I wanted the little thing to match her eyes at first but couldn’t make it work in a way I liked and I love contrasting colors ^-^

The original goal was rainbow, but I wasn’t liking any of them (you can see me tracking my marker colors on the page) so I decided to pick three I liked best together and keep her body and clothes fairly neutral (which was always the plan). For her pet yarn, I choose a color that stood out:

There’s a few missing pieces from my experimenting until I found the right combo as those are on separate paper I would have to hunt down, but I liked the capris under a long shirt best. It’s also on those missing pieces I found a good color combo for her hair.

I thought the first design looked odd since it looked like she wasn’t wearing any pants cause I made the seam the same as her body’s seams. Second attempt came out better after I added shorts but that’s not the look I wanted for her.

Gonna post some stuff tomorrow going over the process of how I came up with a piece so look out for that
