Another flowering grass! Side Oats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendula) in flower. Honestly, we should have posted a video because the way the dangling flowers waggle in the breeze is rather pleasant.

Entrance to Mt. Mitchell Heritage Prairie Park, near Wamego, KS. It's not far from the Konza Prairie. Just get off I-70 at the exit with the cheese store for the Alma Creamery. These flowers are mostly black-eyed susans, along with coreopsis and false sunflower. #nativeplants

Seed collection at a workday hosted by @nature.org at Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve in support of nearby restoration work! The team collected Pale Poppy Mallow seeds, and we enjoyed a warm June day with Catclaw Sensitive Brier, Dickcissels, Eastern Meadowlarks, horned lizards, and more.
