Yup. And it’s good for some perspective when I think I’m having a tough time (oftentimes things aren’t as bad as they feel and good to be reminded of what real adversity looks like). Also often for challenging thoughts that I know I can do better with. Also makes me examine the context of speeches.

Speeches by Martin Luther King Jr: The Ultimate Collection. Not sure how the audiobook will be but I frequently dip into my print copy. That guy had some powerful things to say

I may also decide to pull over, stop driving and walk instead. After all, the sun is out, the birds are singing and the air is fresh.

Shock and a strong urge to swerve violently honking across all lanes, but I have learnt that those urges are not helpful because at best you scratch your car. Then I would chug along and conclude that the problem is not my driving. Then I would sing to the radio and relax. I can’t steer their car. X

Homemade pizza rocks! A family event and considered something special in this house!

Ditto, but I’m resolved to stay the course!
Grit your teeth for the next four years (and hope that it really is only four), it’s gonna be grim. 🫣

I think that the truth is that most people don’t care enough to leave it. They don’t think about or see what it has become because they are simply using it to feed their need for whatever content they engage with. I feel cleaner not having Twitter in my life, but I’m also missing the good stuff.

And have the start of a planting plan mapped out (needs refining). Will be adding irrigation next weekend because I’m often away for several nights at a time once cricket things start happening.

I drive quite a bit for work and so usually listen to audiobooks to pass the time. The Jeeves and Wooster books (beautifully read by Stephen Fry) have me laughing out loud every time…and I must be on my fourth listening by now, despite having read them on paper a couple of times too.

Yes, but I miss the idea that the next Pratchett book is due. I love other authors and genres of course, and love them all in different ways, but Pratchett is irreplaceable and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to really get over the loss of him.

The noise of the ZX Spectrum 48k game loading. ‘Woooooo-wi, woooooo, deedili deedili bip, woooooo-wi’ etc etc. A minute or two of anticipation to see if it would work or if you were going to have to start again. Many times we gave up and decided to go back playing outside instead.

The most only time someone should look into their neighbour’s bowl is to check that they have enough.

My Mum used to tell me that too. Even as a ten year old, I think that my response was: “Excuse me, are you calling me boring?” To be fair, it was an effective way of making me find something to do. Of course, that was all before iPads and doom scrolling.
