I've been knocked out by a cold for a week+, but today I finally made it out of the house for the only thing worth pursuing.

if someone made me design some ui thing for hours, implement it for a day and then immediately go "nah, that's not it" i would punch them in the face.
sadly for me, i'm that person.

usually when there's an update to the unity hub it's something annoying, but now i can hide the cloud/version crap AND I CAN SEE THE NAMES OF THE PROJECTS NOT THE FOLDERS. OH MY GOD. FINALLY!

i'm adding a second network adapter to my proxmox virtualizing server and looked up how to bridge the two connections.
the article also helpfully teaches me how to copy and paste on a desktop computer.
i'm not sure what their intended target audience is here?

lost a good hour being extremely confused by this.
if i put the const outside the function the shader still compiles and "works" but the value of pi becomes something else entirely.
it's probably expected behavior, because i call that last function via shadergraph. still tho!

Was having a nice day up until my son tipped over my coffee fully INTO my computer. Turns out that mesh cases are great for letting more things than air in.
Anyway, a swift disassembly and application of lots of paper towels seems to have saved it all.

As luck would have it, I had bought LED replacements for these a year ago, I was just waiting for them to give up before replacing them.
No time like the present. A quick snip of the ballast (the led bulbs don't need it) and a wago to tie it together and the first bulb worked. 🧵5/7

Sadly these are not exactly easy to get to, they're four meters up in the air, there's also eight of them.
Out with the big ladder. 🧵4/7

After some swearing and head scratching, it turns out it's coming from the ground connection.
I realized these lights are on the same circuit. They're some kind of fluorescent lights with those external ballast things. They're probably 20+ years old at this point I don't trust them! 🧵3/7

This light on the front of our house stopped working a couple of days ago.
Today I had a couple minutes to spare so I went to replace it.
It's now five hours later and I'm finally done.
Come on a house-owner adventure with me! 🧵1/7

unitys shadergraph is mostly good, but whoever decided to use ALL THE PRECISION for storing node positions should get a wedgie.
this change happens at random each time i even open a graph. floats are gonna float, just chop them off at three decimals or something!
