A geriatric millennial trying to read more to avoid doomscrolling.
Book 36: Move over Audubon Field Guide to birds, @mattkracht.bsky.social’s field guide has made me a bird expert in less than 200 pages! Secretly I’m glad he didn’t call my favorite local birds dumb (Cardinals and Ruby Throated Hummingbirds) #booksky #fieldguidetodumbbirds

Book 35: Another helping of Gothic Horror from T. Kingfisher. Hopefully What Stalks the Deep is t the end of the Sworn Soldier series. #booksky #whatstalksthenight #tkingfisher

Book 34: What Feasts at Night continues to deliver the same delightfully gothic spookiness as what moves the dead. #booksky #whatfeastsatnight

I told myself I wouldn’t start another series until it was finished, but here I am completely caught up with Dungeon Crawler Carl hoping that @mattdinniman.bsky.social doesn’t pull a George RR Martin. #booksky #dungeoncrawlercarl

Book 32. What Moves The Dead was delightfully spooky and creepy. Hopefully the next two in the series are more of the same #booksky #whatmovesthedead

Book 31. Have you ever made cookies and taken them out of the oven before they were completely done? They are still good, but would have been better fully cooked. That’s what The Wild Dark reminds me of - something good, but with a little more time could have been even better. #booksky #thewilddark

Book 30: The quickest 800 page book I’ve ever read! Dungeon Crawler Carl has been such a fun adventure. #dungeoncrawler #booksky

Book 28: Heart-Shaped Box. Perfect book to start spooky season! This was also my first ebook in years. I still prefer physical books (time away from my phone is nice/needed), but I do see the appeal of having my book always with me. #booksky #heartshapedbox #readseasonally #joehill

Book 26: Another great book by Graham Joyce. A quick read with a nice dash of supernatural/spookiness #booksky #dreamside #grahamjoyce

Book 26. I grew up hunting and fishing with my grandfather, this book brought back so many memories of early mornings in the woods with him. I wasn’t expecting so many emotions over hunting and fishing essays. #booksky

Book 25: A wonderful conclusion to the The Night Ends with Fire. I wish I had read the duology closer together, after a year I needed a refresher on some of the characters. Overall a great story of Mulan for adults. #booksky #thedragonwakeswiththunder #kxsong

Book 23: Forgettable characters/story with an unsatisfying ending. Not Stephen Kings best … #booksky

Book 22: Just as good as the first what if? The amount of time and research @xkcd.com put into answering ridiculous questions is amazing. #booksky #whatif

Book #19. I can see some concerning connections between this book and the present day. I can also see someone reading this as as a young adult and making it their entire personality. Another great read from Alan Moore #booksky #vforvendetta

Just started V for Vendetta and I’m thinking there might be some parallels to current events. #booksky #vforvendetta

I gave been spending too much time doom scrolling lately. It was good to stop and visit Hill House again. This was a perfect spiritual successor to the haunting of hill house #booksky

Book #16. Having been forced to read many classics in high school and college (none of which I enjoyed) this was a pleasant surprise. It was very interesting seeing how many stories have been influenced by this book. Highly recommended for any fan of horror. #booksky

Book #15. Back with my friend Murderbot! I’ve enjoyed the novella entries in the series over the full length novel. They feel like an episode of a show (just like what the Murderbot likes)
