Both were much closer to eliminating PSG than Arsenal, that's the point. Keeper performance, fluky goals, half strength, grass too long....🥱

I don't think any other fans would really be shouting about winning the xG tbh when they've been eliminated quite handily. Agree Liverpool were battered and stole a win, agree Villa had a great half.

Yeah I think Arsenal came out firing at the start of the second leg before the PSG goal definitely but when it does 2-0 and then 3 it wasn't really a challenge for them was it, that was the point

The original point was about Arsenal being the only team to challenge PSG being completely untrue

That if you are 1-0 up away from home early in the 1st leg then you are more likely to sit in and concede more shots. So Arsenal will probably accumulate more xG. Then if you get to 3-0 up in the tie and there's no real jeopardy you'll likely be less vigilant and concede more chances.

Dembele's goal aside the xG was level in the 1st half and Liverpool did beat them on xG in the second half. Liverpool outshooting them in both halves too. They wanted to score in my opinion

Why didn't Liverpool beat them on xG when the tie was level are you asking?

Game state is a thing.

They went 1-0 down less than 5 minutes into the 1st leg and didn't get a goal until it was already 3-0 in the tie.

Say they got fairly challenged here. Game state is a big thing too. Scoring early away from home can expect them to take their foot off the gas and sit in a bit against Arsenal, did that against Villa and it nearly sent them out

They were on the ropes against Villa. Only got the 1 breakaway goal against Liverpool despite their dominance. I'd say both matches challenged them

Villa beat them in the home leg. Liverpool beat them in the away leg and only went out on pens. Arsenal lost home and away, hardly challenged them
