Great effort Connor, even the Mayor was on your side although his utterly "old-man" patronising tone towards you was cringey!

Since they admit they could have explained the rationale better, why don't they? That is such a bullshit line.

That's really interesting - decline is tax revenue just exacerbated by higher unemployment. Considering the increase in population (via immigration) then that looks even worse.

30 years of successive governments pulling the wool over our eyes that government surplus means everything is rosy

@maxrushden.bsky.social, one for you and Paul Watson next week. Look for the Yellow Card given to Chris Wood in The NZ v Fiji match. Received the card about 10 mins after being subbed due to doing signing and selfies with kids on the edge of the stand. Ridiculous FIFA overreach

Great support from Clr Hills as usual. He is a great champion of looking after people

Ideology prevails. Borrowing more than ever to fund tax cuts that benefit wealthy people proportionately more than poor people casts a terrible toll on our future generations. Growing up in poverty doesn't lead to good outcomes does it?

Utter incompetence by the looks of it. Did their forecasting tool break down.

How could their Nov24 track put business investment for Dec24 about $800m above what it turned out to be? Surely that would be an almost certainty at that point. If I (with my Finance Forecasting hat on) got it this wrong for the month following, I'd probably be sacked and rightly so.

Utterly astounding. The parliamentary process is there for a reason, so private benefits are considered correctly

I'm confused - did I not hear the PM on the Jack Tame interview say that Rents had decreased YoY? He was discussing it in terms of validating the government policy change on landlords claiming interest expenses etc.

Surely this is just an embargoed session like the budget. This is concerning if it results in less public understanding and scrutiny.

Of course this will give them an excuse for reducing the pot as well. If, say the fund is only $75m in 2025 - only half that is available to "non-economic" research. Crusher Collins at her best

That picture is awful optics. How on earth can they portray a foodbank as helping with cost of living. It's just embarrassing.

I congratulated you over on the other place so just popped in here to reiterate. Nice one @kirstyjohnston.bsky.social, was an excellent listen.

I appreciate your efforts to educate on that Facebook group but unfortunately vast numbers of members are completely self-centred so have no comprehension of what might be coming up in front of them until it happens. They are just absorbed (mainly in their phones/social media) all the time
