I wrote to U.S. Rep. Scott Perry and his reply included him: 1) perplexed with more correspondence due to opposition to his party, 2) spreading disinformation about cuts to Medicaid and Medicare, and 3) bragging about his bill which even the Republican majority in Congress won't consider.
A letter from U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, which reads: Dear Ms. Reick, Thank you for contacting me about Medicare and Medicaid. I appreciate your views on these critical programs, as I do your patience with my reply as we navigate a great deal of correspondence. In recent months, many in the dishonest media who profit from fear have falsely claimed that I and other Republicans want to defund/dissolve the Medicaid and Medicare programs. WRONG. To be clear, I do not now, nor have I ever supported the dissolution of either program, nor is it the “Republican platform…to destroy or dismantle” Medicaid or Medicare” as the leftwing media keeps touting in its desperate, fearmongering propaganda. While reform is desperately needed, people have paid into these programs for years – and the people who need it most should get the help they need and the help their tax dollars have paid into. President Trump agrees with me on these programs, and any efforts from the Left to distort our positions are cruel, devious, and tiresome – at best. Our federal overspending is an existential threat to these programs, though, and does need to be addressed. Both programs are projected to go bankrupt in this decade, and urgent spending cuts are needed to curtail this pending catastrophe – something my Democrat colleagues are not only causing via rampant, irresponsible, and increased spending, but also disinterested in discussing, let alone addressing. For decades, Congress has not completed our statutorily prescribed 12 separate appropriations bills to allow for adequate deliberation of each sector funded by the government, a process which prevents inevitable waste and overspending. The absence of this process was amplified especially during COVID under former Speaker Nancy Pelosi. A continuation of the letter, which reads as follows: The American People agree with me and are starving for fiscal sanity – just like we must practice in our own households. Since I earned election to Congress, and in every legislative session since, I’ve proposed a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, which requires that the federal government spend only what it takes in – or less – each year. The measure embodies fiscal responsibility and accountability and is a step in the right direction. Predictably, considering the D.C. swamp climate, my bill is “unpopular” and has yet to be considered in the House; however, I remain resolute in this and other measures to rein in the federal government, and am optimistic that our best days are ahead of us as a Nation. I ordered a chai latte and when I asked the barista about the magnet with a dog on it, I didn't question it when they said that's who makes the cookies until I showed them the magnet a minute later.

We both needed the caffeine. I'm too stressed, obviously.

Gov. Shapiro took the plane to visit the White House to meet with the president at his invitation so that he could advocate for our commonwealth and attend the National Governors Association.

According to Politico, a fundraiser was held for [Gov. Josh Shapiro] in D.C. It appears there's a return flight home scheduled for today, I wonder who's on and paying for these flights."
