I think so too. Democratic party has also ignored their base. Citizens United and the radical increase in dark money such as Koch brothers and now tech bros added to the mix on top of the elimination of the Fairness Doctrine in broadcasting in the 80s. It's been a long simmering brew.

I think it would be easier to swallow this if it hadn't been for their previous fawning over Trump. It showed bad judgment at the time and had nothing to do with good journalism.
