I am the big sister (endnote really that short) of the 5 resister Koch brothers. There are many ways to pronounce this common German name.. Our pronounciation rhymes with scotch. It is commonly a Jewish name but we aren't. My mother, when asked, used to say she was Ed Koch's secret wife.

We don't even pronounce it the same. Our pronunciation rhymes with scotch. I have five good Koch bros, all lifelong resisters. Koch is a very common German name. Much of the time it is Jewish, but we aren't.

I have been a member of the War Resister's League since my early 20s. I will be 80 in July. Some brave people need training in active nonviolence.

I have often felt women are too comfortable griping to other women about the men in their lives instead of confronting the men. Having five younger brothers was a gift. Until I left for college I was the tallest and certainly the best student. I was 13 when my youngest brother was born.

The war in Europe was over when I was born. My dad, stationed in France, was at the Paris Opera House the night I was born July17.. He wasn't able to return home until February 1946. I love this photo of our reunion.
