I was planning to say something along those lines and you did it for me. Thank you! I believe there is a similar phenomenon amongst, journalists who somehow go from one extreme to the other. I’m thinking about Matt Taibbi, Megan Kelly, BarI Weiss and their ilk.

And yet, we should all be afraid of what may come, and act with our communities, in any way each of us is able, to turn this trend around. As an elderly person, I struggle to decide what more I can do, and I worry that I do not see more resistance from those under the age of 30.

Actually NO. The United States is still a democracy, and the rule of law generally is holding, especially once the issues get to the courts. These are difficult times and we must keep our eye on what’s happening, but please be precise in your reporting when you describe the situation.

Good point. Thank you. ….. As side note, I was surprised at how many people scolded me for my comments. I did try to offer constructive feedback in I way I thought was polite. (Maybe not?) I was hoping to improve the experience, not only for myself, but for others as well. Mea culpa.

just so you know, i do a deep dive into everything i read, i consider the source and I fact check if anything doesn’t pass the smell test. i work hard at educating myself and i am not intellectually lazy. i prefer not to waste my time - only asking for common courtesy

that makes little sense to me. i don’t evaluate books or articles i have not read, nor do i care to read other people’s evaluations, until i know what they are talking about. a link would be the polite thing to do

Then what is the point of being on BlueSky? I want to know what’s happening and listen to what intelligent people are saying about various topics. Otherwise, I just feel like an outsider looking in not included.

As often happens on Bluesky, I had to work much too hard to actually figure out what your comment referred to. Maybe I’m old and I haven’t figured out how Blue Sky works. I really would like to know what people are talking about when they make interesting comments. What’s the fix for this?
