I'm told some precincts of these here innertoobs have suggested that the Bears move to Michigan City, resulting in a team named for Chicago but located in an Indiana city named for another state.

Again, go for it, Bears.

The original makes it even more fantastic, in the traditional sense of that word.

The aggregation of nondenominational churches is now larger than any Protestant denomination in the USA. Such churches vary, but all contrast with the more centralized structure of Catholicism. Will contrasts grow with the direction Francis and Leo have set for Catholicism?

Heh: my youngest (who graduated NCC) points out that NCC, Leo bobbleheads, and Thirsty Thursday beer specials are quite the Trinity!

Maybe minor league teams promote themselves with everything they can think of? The Beloit Sky Carp on Saturday are having a Bears/Packers Night, Make-a-Wish raffle, fireworks show, and the incomparable Nancy Faust on the organ. Alas, tix are more than what I'd pay for local twilight-golf specials.

I also find this story to be funny given the gospel for today--James and John seeking to be on each side of Jesus in the kingdom--but maybe I'm stretching things.

Am I missing something?

I can understand different political causes animating different priests in different ways, but monetary contributions (especially on a diocesan priest's salary, funded by his parishioners) seem a particularly stupid way for them to be animated.

You don't (or shouldn't) have much money, so you're not going to influence an election with your contribution, the irritation you'll give to at least some of your parishioners isn't worth it, and your influence should be more profound than the political idiocy of the moment.
