It was an absolutely perfect day out visiting a local farm with my friend @graidimade.bsky.social

My first experience with Gotland sheep and goodness, they left an impression! If I could have brought one home, I would have. The smallest was so incredibly friendly and so so soft!!!
Gotland sheep grazing on a spring hill. The grass is young and hay is scattered about. I believe there are about five or six ewes in this photo - light grey bodies with dark faces. And there are about four lambs visible with their mothers. I learned that all Gotland lambs are born a deep rich black color and then the hair changes to grey. These ranged from one to two weeks old and were darling! Blue skies and white clouds with a tree lined range in the distance. #sheep #farming #gotland #yarn #fiber #fibershed My friend Graidi pets a momma ewe who was so friendly and came right over to visit. (Her two lambs are not visible in this image.) Graidi is wearing blue jeans and a mid-tone grey pullover. She is right at home and has the most beautiful smile on her face. In this image, you can see the two babies with their momma as Graidi gives her a scratch on the neck. This is Martha, owner of the farm, with the smallest lamb. His mother abandoned him and covered him over with hay, but Martha and her husband rescued him and brought him inside for a while and bottle fed him. He’s doing amazing now and was so friendly and soft. I was so impressed with both owners of this farm and how knowledgeable they were about animal husbandry and building, with their off-grid home and plans for a farm store. The Lindal Turritella Scarf

The Lindal Turritella Scarf. Three different variations are shown here on a large rocky outcropping by the White River, South Royalton, Vermont. The far one is the longest and done with a red-orange base together with a red - blue gradient. The center one uses a mix of natural sheep’s wool colors for the outline work with a russet gradient that picks up neutral tones with lavender and tan. The far right scarf is done in a beautiful rich chocolate brown with autumnal hues in the gradient shapes. Available on Ravelry. This pattern is written for five different lengths, xs-xl, starting at 50”, with the longest running app. 90”. All of the designs in this collection are inspired by the beautiful organic shapes of seashells. Turritella comes from Latin turrittus meaning “turreted” or “towered” and the diminutive suffix ~ella. A genus of medium-sized sea snails with tightly coiled shells. Featured yarns by Junction Fiber Mill.
