Birding in the Lothians when the toddler lets me.
Toddler slept for an hour and a half today! And right when the Musselburgh tide was peak in, nice and calm. Felt fortunate to have great views of a Red-necked Grebe. Lovely patch ✅ ! #birdinglothian @birdinglothian.bsky.social #birdingscotland #ukbirding #birds #pwc2025 #patchbirding

On Saturday the birding gods smiled upon me. Wife happy at home while me and the toddler enjoyed a tasty selection of waders gathered together directly in front of the hide at Musselburgh scrapes! #birdinglothian @birdinglothian.bsky.social #birdingscotland #ukbirding #birds #pwc2025 #patchbirding

Enjoyed watching the White-rumped Sandpiper yesterday evening at Musselburgh. It was still there when I left at 9pm. Old scrapes, left hide. #birdinglothian @birdinglothian.bsky.social #birdingscotland #ukbirding #birds #pwc2025 #patchbirding

Tried to find the White-winged Scoter at Musselburgh this evening. No luck. But did find a Surf Scoter! It was with 5 velvets just west of the long pipe off the sea wall east end.

Great birding at the weekend at Musselburgh. Patch lifers Grasshopper Warbler and Avocet! Couldn’t get an audio recording of the gropper as my daughter wouldn’t let go of my tascam! #birdinglothian #birdingscotland #ukbirding #birds #pwc2025 #patchbirding

Added 7 species to my #PWC2025 list. Including a long overdue personal patch tick Kingfisher at Musselburgh. Sneakily birded whilst baby sleeps! It’s the only birding time I get these days. I reckon PWC should give bonus points to birds seen whilst looking after a baby. 😉 #BirdingLothian #birds

White-Throated Dipper at the River Esk, Musselburgh this morning. I was walking over the footbridge when I heard what sounded like a combination of cetti’s & goldfinch singing. Turned out to be a singing Dipper! #birdingLothian #BirdingScotland #UKBirding #Birds @birdinglothian.bsky.social

Everyday there are a bunch of Oystercatchers on the public open space at Pinkie Mains. Sometimes there’s one with a metal ring (and I think a black ring below it) on the right tarsus. Can’t find where it’s from on ecrbirding! 3 Redshanks also (patch ✅)

Little bit of ‘birding with baby’ at our local nature reserve. Sparrowhawk, low fly over grey heron and two fresh willow warblers chasing each other around best of a short visit.
