I started telling my story on substack last spring. Last August I lost my job. Now I'm 61, facing eviction on Feb 19.

I deliberately disappeared after winning. The battle wounded me deeply. I built a quiet life, deeply satisfied that LGBTQ+ youth after me had the rights I fought for. But history forgot. Even AI summaries of Canadian gay rights don't mention the case.

It was the first case to establish sexual orientation under Section 15 of the Charter. The court created Canada's first "positive remedy" — "reading in" the protection to federal law. It became the foundation all that followed, including marriage equality.
