A snowless Kashmiri winter, once unheard of, is becoming all too common as climate change bites ever harder in the northernmost region of the Indian subcontinent.

Does anyone seriously expect the US ICE Agent force to be disbanded after its work is done? Trump is creating a private army, with none of the usual law enforcement restrictions, to be used against those who oppose his will.

Trump official Stephen Miller may wear a blue suit and tie, but his beliefs in a world governed by strength, force and power shows he has not come far from his paleolithic ancestors. His attitude might be right for the days when the weapon of destruction was a stone club, but not in the nuclear era.

On this day 12 months ago I posted that 2024 had been a terrible year, but there was worse to come. I don't get everything right, but I reckon I was spot on with that.

Trump's newly released National Security Strategy is a clear attack on Europe's institutions and way of life. In the short term it must be resisted. Longer term: A discussion on the possibility the US can no longer be considered a consistent ally in confronting the forces of authoritarianism.

The US justice system has prevailed with Judge Cameron Currie ruling that Trump stooge Lindsey Halligan (pictured) was unqualified to bring charges against former FBI Director James Comey and New York Attorney General Letitia James — and that Halligan’s very appointment was unlawful.

Given the savage acts of repression Russian forces have meted out to Ukrainian civilians in the areas they have occupied (remember Bucha) can we really expect Kyiv to meekly withdraw its forces from land it still holds in the eastern provinces?

What a wonderful world: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi nominates Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize 'for bringing peace to the Middle East' on the same day that Israel launches strikes on Gaza killing at least nine.

A dangerous dose of positivity?
A report from Big Four accounting firm KPMG has found that 90 per cent of Australia’s top bosses are optimistic on the growth prospects of the country’s economies. - towardsabetterday.blogspot.com

In order to counter the repeated incursion of Russian drones into its territories, NATO should impose a 20 kilometre 'buffer zone' along its borders with Ukraine, in which any unauthorised aircraft/drones will be shot down.

Tragically, Charlie Kirk has become a victim of the very philosophy he upheld. While US gun laws continue to be lax to non-existent, politically motivated assassinations and attempted assassinations are only going to become more frequent.

Government by gerontocracy in a suffering world
Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946. I was born on September 19 in that same year. That makes Trump two months and five days older than me....

Bannon: Musk isn't an American - deport him.
Musk: Bannon is a fat, drunken slob who should be in jail.
This is what happens when thieves fall out.

Contrary to White House claims, Trump has not brought peace between Israel and Iran. He has engineered a ceasefire between two antagonistic countries. Peace will come only with a normalisation of relations and an exchange of ambassadors, which would certainly be worthy of a Nobel Prize.

The only 'incitement' in California results from the Trump Administration's draconian round-up of migrants, robbing farmers of labour and businesses of the employees they need to keep operating.

So sad to see that Hong Kong activist Joshua Wong has been slapped with another trumped-up charge - four years after he was first jailed - obviously authorities are determined to keep him behind bars for the rest of his life.

The Trump-Musk row would be funny, if it did not involve people with so much power to do harm to the rest of the world. The US Administration is a chaotic disgrace - and heaven knows what it will do next.

Trump's assault on Harvard and other US universities is just a 21st Century version of the Nazi book burnings of the 1930s.

Spare us this Coalition chaos - I find it difficult to understand all the hand-wringing that has been going on over the on-again-off-again split in the Coalition in the wake of the Federal Election.

In Australia's election, the loser congratulated the winner; the winner thanked the loser for his campaign and wished him well. Contrast this with the vulgar lout who sits in the White House - his constant slurs against his predecessor and his bald lies about how well he is doing for his country.
