Most humans (80-90%) have a vestigial wrist tendon, the palmaris longus tendon, that doesn't really do much, although in various related species (e.g. orangutans) it is still important. If a person needs a tendon graft, this is usually the one that's used if present, since it's basically a spare.

I don't know if this is worse than the poutine-kebabs, but it's definitely in the same category of WHAT.

And the book has an AI cover, because of course it does.

This is a maple, but there are gorgeous yellow-leaved trees of all kinds around here at this time of year!

It is a sensible fear! Lots of people use ropes and harnesses for safer climbing, and if you can find a climbing club near you, you could probably give that a try and see if it works for you.

And yes you could fall but there's so much to hold on to and when the tree sways in the wind you clasp the trunk and remember things don't have to be still to be sturdy. And when you're back on the ground that stays with you for awhile.

And all of a sudden you're enfolded in this environment, in this green place that will hold you up safely as long as you pay attention. And you can look out over the world and down at the tops of people's heads as they walk along the sidewalk and they almost never look up.

I climb trees. There's something about that first kick up into the tree - like, the lowest branch is above your head and you reach up to it, and there's always the moment of disorientation as you haul yourself up, like falling upwards, and then you're in among the branches.

I do like roasting the pumpkin seeds, even though I know this activity is mostly "it's four o'clock and we need to distract the children from the bowl of candy for another few hours"

Fingers crossed that they expand it to a greater number (it's currently 2,000 artists, by lottery) but at least it's out of the pilot program stage and into the permanent budget, which is a huge step.

Tom Scott is one of my favourites for this, because his reactions are basically the same as mine would be. "Oh wow! Oh, that's incredible. Oh, that's unnervingly high, just give me a minute to make my hands let go of the thing. Right then, what's this bit do?"

Professional copy editor here. Three English dictionaries on my desk (M-W, OED, Oxford Canadian). I use online references extensively as well; it's not either-or. But physical books are an important part of my workflow.
