Hmmm...I think we can actually go far enough and blame it on Brooke for hooking up with Deacon and becoming pregnant with Hope. Then Hope couldn't have grown up and stole Liam from Steffy, by being evil and all.Then she cast her spell upon T and made him do crazy things. Brooke's fault totally. 😉

It must be that they lack any long term plans for characters. It's clear to me that they have never known what to do with Liam when he's not in a triangle. They had no plan for him when they wanted to hook up NOPE. They thought as far as the kiss and then scrambled for some type of storyline.
