😂😂 of course the lineup is that way. I can’t imagine why else they would include a *classic* of Japanese cuisine, shumai, in the menu.

(Yes, Japanese shumai are a thing, but I don’t think this is what they were going for if you look at the menu)

Stoked that my copy of Ruth Lor Malloy’s 1997 book Hijras: Who We Are finally arrived! It’s about the realities of this Indian queer community from their own perspective.

Thank you Ruth for sending me this! You were doing anti-oppressive journalism before it was even a thing!

Today I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Jack Seto, editor of The Asianadian, an Asian Canadian magazine that ran issues in the 1980s - just like Sticky Rice Magazine now! It’s so nice to see that there were people before us who did this work, who can inspire us and who we can learn from.

I just interviewed THE Gia Gunn of RuPaul’s Drag Race fame! So honoured to have been able to chat with such an icon.

Stay tuned for the article!

I am so honoured to finally have been able to meet the legendary Ruth Lor Malloy (upper right of the picture, next to her daughter Linda Malloy). Now in her 90s and a respected elder in our community, Ruth was one of the FIRST EVER Asian Canadian journalists to work in Western Canadian media!

Thank you @haymarketbooks.org for sending me this copy of Not Your Rescue Project by Chanelle Gallant and Elene Lam. I got it today! It will be a great resource for my coverage on migrant sex work issues.

Stay tuned for pieces on migrant sex work that are coming in 2025!

Things I never expected to happen in my journalism career: being offered a free sex toy from a source I interviewed.

(I declined to maintain impartiality.)

Stay tuned for upcoming article!
