Trans people are not the boogeyman of force readiness. Do not fall for the sentiments that they are making our military weaker. Our greatest military asset has been and will continue to be our integrated forces that draw upon the strengths and expertise of all of America's various demographics.

I've served with people who deployed while prescribed anti anxiety medication, ACE inhibitors, CPAPs, ADHD medication, or were recovering from surgery and were practically permanent light duty for the whole 9 months, but in the end they all did their jobs and we accomplished our mission.

At the end of the day, trans people serving in the armed forces are just living their lives in service to our country. Their medical needs are no different or exceptional than what the average service member could request electively or require medically.

In the previous Trump administration, trans service members were barred from joining. Those who were in service and had already started treatment were allowed to continue, but those who came out following the order were prevented from doing so.

Even chronic conditions like cancer can result in a person being medically separated and transfered to the VA for care should the service member not be determined fit for full within the prescribed time frame. This is true of any condition requiring long term treatment, including trans people.

LIMDU service members are brought before a medical board if their condition does not improve and they are not declared fit for full within 6 months. There are exceptions for certain conditions, but these are to an extent.

Those who are on medications are expected to bring a 90 day supply prior to deployment with the understanding that future fulfillment may not happen on schedule. There are procedures in place for those who are not fit for full duty to be placed on limited duty status.

Unexpected pregnancies, high blood pressure, psychiatric conditions, injuries and disease all occur within the population of our deployable forces. All service members go through a deployability screening to ensure readiness.
