This accidentally firing certain key staff seems to be a repeating news story recently, I wonder why that is?! Perhaps the old adage, less haste more speed might come in handy? 🙄

I think this stuff needed to be explained better than the simplistic "it is a sales tax" line, although that works for some people too, but the argument needed to be bottomed out for others who think they understand the economics of it but only from the macro perspective and not the personal one.

Not to mention that there are some things, especially foodstuffs, that aren't produced at all in the US, or aren't produced in sufficient quantities in the US, so they will either have to go without, or pay the tariff. This will particularly hit immigrants to the country and their foods from home.

Unfortunately, they don't seem to think further than that and realise the reason a lot of people are buying foreign made goods is because US made goods are more expensive, so therefore, even if they aren't "paying the sales tax" in the form of the tariff, they'll still pay more for US made goods.
