The desire for "alignment with president and SECDEF objectives and SECNAV priorities of reestablishing the warrior culture" is especially dumb given that this is not a combat vessel and largely crewed by CIVMARs who are not "warriors." As an aside, Milk was an actual sailor.
Breaking News: Pete Hegseth has ordered the Navy to review the names of ships honoring civil rights leaders such as Harvey Milk and Harriet Tubman.

The names of several other vessels that honor civil rights leaders and Supreme Court justices might also be changed.

If the USS Delaware did get turned away, morale must be in the toilet. Imagine going on deployment two weeks before Christmas, getting your port call brief, setting duty (and more importantly - liberty) rotation and then turning away in the channel. Gutted

"It would be essential that the Navy resist any bureaucratic impulse to require these ships to be retrofitted to meet Naval Sea Systems Command general specifications." This guy is really suggesting sailors drive a rust bucket into a war zone as "low value platforms." Genius.

"a reservist who attends the local community college could provide information to fellow students on Marine Corps opportunities." For the love of god, do not give the Ex-Marine in Freshman Bio more reason to preach about the Corps.

This Sub Lt said it was a "debate" if carriers are obsolete. Homie, the debate is over. We have 11. Bill Clinton is getting a carrier. You're just glazing the decisions of Big Navy after the fact.
