This hunt has been on my list since alpha Pokémon were confirmed, and it showed up way faster than I expected.

Nintendo has stated in fine print at the end of a video detailing the GameCube controller for the Nintendo Classics range on Switch 2 that the exemplary controller won't work outside of the Nintendo Classics range. It should be noted that Nintendo said the same in a disclaimer about the current GameCube controller for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, so we won't know for sure until the system launches.
