No doubt many are working hard, & have worked hard throughout US history to improve things. (not an exclusive US trait).
Yet Trump is prez. half of Congress supports him, & they were all elected. Until that changes, U have the gov U deserve,just as in every other democracy, none of which is perfect

Agreed, it’s rigged. I never bought the specious claim: US was “freest country in the world”

Constant vigilance is too much to ask, I agree, but clearly, the amount of vigilance Americans currently practice is inadequate. Hence Trump and the many other self-serving representatives in power today.
