The Real Chili Palmer Hits Hollywood
Travolta’s character in Get Shorty was based on Ernesto “Chili” Palmer, who helped Elmore Leonard and me with research in South Florida and became our good friend.

Read the lost backstory of Elmore Leonard’s family in New Orleans — a sad tale, drawn from original records and years of research. I also correct genealogical errors in the Elmore Leonard biography Cooler Than Cool by C.M. Kushins.

No Kings Day West Hollywood was a blast! Thousands of people; peaceful, happy, serious. The event was held at West Hollywood Park across from the Pacific Design Center on San Vicente and spilled out onto Santa Monica Blvd in a long circular march. It couldn't have been better. #NoKingsDay

A new Elmore Leonard bio is out—Cooler Than Cool by C.M. Kushins. He had access to the archives and family, but it’s not the last word.

My memoir, I’d Kill to Have Your Job, fills in what was missed.

To celebrate Elmore Leonard at 100:
I’d Kill to Have Your Job: Getting the Goods for Elmore Leonard is my memoir of 32.5 years as his researcher & friend, tracking people, places, and stories behind the work, knowing what he needed to write his novels—often before he did.

Picket Line which comes out on September 30, is not a lost novella. It’s the first act of an unfinished novel by Elmore Leonard, written as a movie treatment in 1970. Shelved, not lost. Here’s the story: www.elmoreleonard.com/index.php?/w...
