I’m possibly making a game that heavily features a wheelbarrow… Any other games that do this? #gamedev
Finding comfort in knowing there are less and less games I am interested in as time becomes more valuable.

Here are my current requirements:

Best game people to follow on Substack? I find it much better place for learning than Bsky

Indika - that was a trip and perfect length for a video game. Thanks @brandon.insertcredit.com for the recco on a previous episode of Insert Credit

2025 is: I’ll be walking my dog and my subconscious will hit me with ‘I hope we’re all still alive tomorrow.’

For me, twitter was a constant flow of screenshots. Here, I rarely see any. Who can I follow to see more WIPs and games being built?

Fond memories of playing Owlboy. World and characters are all so memorable. Get it!

I have shared this story, this thread, before - but I think given the state of the world, it's worth telling once again. Maybe it can help, especially if like me, you make art, and you wonder what the use of all of it is right now.

The older you get, the less time you have to play games. What you play has to be really worth it. In my case maybe a couple hours a week.

Anyone had experience creating a successful but small IP from gamedev?

Following more devs than I ever did on twitter. However my feed here has next to zero WIP videos. Why could that be?

This thread is absolutely what we need to hear
In gamedev, we joke about how we shouldn't care so much because "we ain't curing cancer" so chill, right?

But you know what? These last few weeks reminded me that the Arts, esp accessible Art like videogames is incredibly important because games have a big place in sculpting cultural norms.

With the amount of amazing games out there, stores need to a better job at recommendations. I see the same games being featured ALL the time and zero “old-but-golds”

In lighter news. I fixed my OLED Switch and I much prefer using it to an unwieldy Steam Deck

I’ve been thinking a lot about what purpose games have while the world is on fire, and the not so mind blowing answer is ✨escapism✨ …

What would be an appropriate video-game to make when the world is on fire? Asking for a friend

Retried an old fave SSX Tricky over the holidays. It is inferior to SSX 3 in so many ways

I searched for “Understated video games “. Results were “you must mean underRATED right?” 😔

Damn shame the “Catch Up” feed is just American politics and that’s after I’ve muted several key names

When an indie dev says their game cost $X to make. Is that based on salaries they made up?

That "indie" is where innovation happens generally isn't true anymore. We iterate to breakthroughs. At large, indie is more risk-averse & homogenous than it's been - publishers gatekeep, focus on graphics, and balloon budgets. Innovation comes from self-published games launching their practice game.
