Wasn't thrilled initially by the idea of an interactive book BUT @martinedwardsbooks.bsky.social's sucked me in and I loved every minute - and even managed to spot a few clues 😉

Miss Winter in the Library with a Knife is a brilliant Christmas read. Highly recommended!

Amidst today's news, can I just remind the Prime Minister that I dealt with the Russians when they tried their shenanigans in Shetland bloody years ago.

Keir, Dave's got my number
- and I know you've got his on speed dial.

Thoroughly enjoyed @stuartmacbride.bsky.social's The Dead of Winter when it first came out.

Rereading it again now we live in the Cairngorms and I'm bloody sure Glenfarach is based on our local village...

After a run of mostly meh books, I've just finished the simply brilliant Too Old For This by @samanthadowning.bsky.social.

I do hope we see more of the adorable Lottie Jones, the grandma that never killed anybody who didn't need killing.

If you can bring yourself to ignore the amateurish covers, you might enjoy reading about Finn's shenanigans in Leeds, north Wales, and Shetland.

In the meantime enjoy this video of Shetland.

There were brief moments of calm, despite Finn getting boisterous with the Russians...

I really must stop ignoring widely lauded books on the basis they can't be *that* good.

Because my life could have been filled with Kate Atkinson far sooner.

What an extraordinary book Started Early, Took My Dog is.

(Side note: How can any of us compete with writing of this quality?) 📚💙

@authorpetermay.bsky.social's The Black Loch is on sale as a Kindle book for 99p.

That's the weekend's reading taken care of. Cutting the lawn can wait...

New covers for the #GovFinnBlack series.

#BlackGold first, the thriller set on Yell in Shetland where we used to live.

Absolutely delighted with them. Big shout-out to Adam Hay for taking my random ideas and turning them into something far better than I imagined.

Really enjoying Death in a Lonely Place by @thestigabell.bsky.social.

Very atmospheric, great characters, and a quirky, off-beat feel.

Highly recommended. 💙📚 #booksky

Feeling stressed by everything that's going on in the world?

Try this. A magical, beautiful book. 💙📚

Thoroughly enjoying @overlander.bsky.social's saunter across Scotland.

Just what I need to get us motivated for more CaniBike fun on the rough tracks that crisscross our part of the Cairngorms this summer.

Russia tried messing around in Shetland.

It didn't end well for them.

They forgot that Shetlanders are descended from Vikings - and Finn's a berserker.

Inspired by real life events. 💙📚

Decisions, decisions.

Waited four years for Galway Confidential by Ken Bruen to arrive - only to wake up and find that @tessgerritsen.bsky.social's The Summer Guests had also been automatically delivered!

It's going to be a great weekend 😁

Really enjoyed The Old Man by Thomas Perry - but then any thriller that shows us old 'uns in a positive light is always going to be a winner in my eyes! 💙📚

Yeah, I'm there too. The bastards.

"My first ambition was to be an orphan."

The first line of Who On Earth is Tom Baker?

I'd forgotten what a wonderful book it is.

Just stumbled across this:

"I can't tell you why, but I always relax a bit when I drive into Canada. People are a little more polite, drivers a bit more mature, with less "attitude" ... On the surface, at least it feels like a calmer, more rational place."

It's Lerwick's Up Helly Aa tonight.

Finn never managed to see it.

He was too busy killing Russian terrorists.

Each to his own, I guess. #BlackGold 📚💙

Shades of Operation Mincemeat in #BlackonBlue.

No singing though. Sorry.

Working my way through the Old Masters: Dick Francis, Gavin Lyall, Frederick Forsyth, and currently Gerald Seymour.

The Jonas Merrick series is beautifully written and suitably melancholic. Wonderful stuff and perfect for a cold and wet winter evening in front of the fire. 💙📚
