I’m from a family of veterans. My dad was a Navy veteran. Both my grandfathers and many of my uncles served. Our state is home to almost 500,000 veterans who exemplify the best of our state.

Thank you for your service.

It was an honor to help celebrate Lenny at the unveiling of his statue at Climate Pledge Arena this summer. He was a giant in Seattle sports, but cared even more about giving back to the community.

I recently signed an executive order kicking off a campaign to increase FAFSA completion rates.

Today, our advisory board, which includes college and high school students, had its first meeting.

Far too many students don’t fill out the form. We're going to change that.

Great to see construction on the new 350-bed forensic hospital at Western State this week. Single rooms, more capacity, moving us toward federal certification, and huge for us on many levels.

We must have treatment that matches the scale of the behavioral health crisis.

Wrapping up 4 days at Western State Hospital. State workers are doing a lot of important work here on behalf of Washingtonians.

As Attorney General, I adopted a Tribal consultation policy to ensure we sought consent before starting a project that could affect Tribes.

I signed an executive order adopting a similar process for our state agencies.

Tribal consultation must be more than checking a box.

The Cascadia region partnership between Washington state, British Columbia, and Oregon reflects the shared values of our region — practical problem-solving and a commitment to progress.

Proud to sign a Memorandum of Reaffirmation to strengthen our collaboration.

Great to speak to some of the people who make our ports run at The Shop in Seattle, hosted by the Northwest Seaport Alliance.

We must keep our ports competitive despite President Trump’s chaotic trade policies.

During my campaign, I promised to spend a week working out of Western State Hospital. Yesterday was my first day.

Improving our behavioral health system must be an urgent priority for our state. When you have a crisis, you have to act like it's a crisis.

This week, I welcomed United Kingdom Consul General Ellie Kiloh to Washington state on her first-ever visit.

I learned about cutting-edge innovation underway in the UK in sustainable aviation fuels and the aerospace sector. We discussed constructive opportunities for mutual economic partnership...

Peter the First Cat and I treat every day like National Cat Day. Still, today is a great opportunity to recognize the contributions from all cats to the state of Washington.

Happy National Cat Day from me and Peter!

Today I announced an agreement between Washington state, Oregon, and British Columbia to renew and strengthen our partnership.

Together, the Cascadia region will address housing affordability, invest in clean energy, and create the conditions for long-term economic growth.

As a leader in global and national trade, Washington has disproportionately borne the economic costs associated with President Trump’s tariff regime.

We filed a brief to the U.S. Supreme Court to make the voices of Washingtonians and our businesses heard.

Last week, I joined leaders from Washington’s Tribal Nations for my first Centennial Accord meeting as Governor, hosted by the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.

We talked about how Tribes and the state can best work together in tackling tough challenges, including state budget cuts and federal policy shifts.

Washington is proud to be the best state for women's sports in the country.

As a softball dad, women's sports is a big part of my life. I asked my daughter Katie what softball has meant to her, and she said it was character building. That's the best answer I could've gotten as a parent.

You can use money from the FAFSA for apprenticeships and job training, as well as college.

The FAFSA unlocks the WA Grant, which can fully cover costs for many Washington families — not just loans.

That's why I tell every high school senior in our state to fill out the FAFSA.

I signed an emergency proclamation today on the Bullfrog Road overpass that was severely damaged by a strike, closing the westbound lanes of I-90 underneath.

The proclamation allows us to seek federal funds and enter into an emergency contract to start work as quickly as possible.

We can look to our history of wins here in Washington state for guidance on how to move forward. Proud to be celebrating LGBTQ History Month.
October 23, 2025 at 12:40 AM
Our bridge inspectors are on site examining the bridge.

We anticipate sharing with the public how long Westbound I-90 will be closed, and our next steps, no later than Monday. If that changes, we will alert the public right away.

Today, I signed an executive order setting a new foundation for Washington state’s governmental relations with sovereign Tribal Nations.

I’ve visited Tribes across Washington and heard how we can improve our partnership. I'm putting that feedback into action.

Took the ferry on Monday and had a great visit to the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island.

We talked about my work with other governors, including my former Attorney General colleagues, to protect public health and to defend against authoritarianism from the federal government.

Earlier this year, Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter threatening me and other state officials with criminal prosecution.

I can summarize my response letter with 2 words: Hell no.
