I'm going to start a company that provides filling but calorie-light meal options targeted at Onlyfans hopefuls. It will be called Food for Thot.

While we're on the subject, the 1990s was a short decade. It started in September of 1991, when Nirvana released Smells Like Teen Spirit, and it ended in October of 1998, when Britney Spears released Baby One More Time.

I have this theory about pop music. There are decades when all bets are off. Anything can chart. And then there are decades when it's all the same crap, week in and week out. The 1950s and the 1990s are the former. Everything since 2000 has been the latter.

I don't understand why anybody is going to culinary school in this post-ChatGPT world. If you want a recipe, just get ChatGPT to skim a bunch of recipes made by people who went to culinary school. It'll give you a recipe whose flaws you'd only be able to spot if you went to culinary school. Easy!

Just got off the phone with the alligator rep. He says the alligators aren't cool with being used as fascist window dressing and they're considering a lawsuit.

My most toxic opinion is that I hate every book @charliejane.bsky.social has ever written, but I really dig her Twitter/Bsky presence. She seems so cool. But all her books suck.

So why do we still think that Russia is a nuclear power? Maintaining your nuclear weapons requires constant upkeep. The Ukraine war has proven that Russia's oligarchy has embezzled and misdirected all the funds earmarked for conventional military support. Why do we think their nuclear program is OK?

Forget all the other generational markers. All that matters is this: you're an Elmo kid or a Grover kid. All else is irrelevant.

If I were in charge of the Buffy reboot, I'd have our new Slayer once again the only girl in the world who can stand against the darkness.

Explain it as after the Angel finale, all the Slayers traded their access to the Slayerforce to the Powers That Be in exchange for restoring LA.

Went to dinner with a friend tonight. The subject of Trump and academia came up, and as part of the discussion, I listed off a few of the weirder medieval texts I know regarding gender--things like the story of the man who gets in an argument with his penis and it goes off to a nunnery without him.

I miss when soundtrack albums were just called <Movie>: the Album. It was a brief period in the late 90s and early 2000s that gave us such gems as Godzilla: the Album and Transformers: the Album.

It is time. The world has reached the break glass in case of emergency point of no return. The world is so dark, I must reach for the only unimpeachable source of light I know. It is time to reread the Discworld in publication order. It is not a responsibility I take on lightly.

Angelina Jolie's the best actress I can think of who's arguably never been good in a movie or in a movie that knew what to do with her.

Civ 7 is a lot like Baldur's Gate 3. On launch, the first 1/3 of the game is perfect. No notes. Each 1/3 after is increasingly bad. Unpolished. Why did you think this would be fun?

I guess we just keep playing Antiquity and hope for some patches.

I don't think I've got synesthesia, but I need to check.

Normal people, words do have colors, right? Like... 'clout' is orange; 'elope' yellow; 'whisper' a sort of light blue that trends to purple; 'recess' green striped with orange brick and outlined in white.

Or is it just me?

It really would be in the best interest of the rest of the world to start levying some pre-emptive tariffs and start seizing US assets abroad. It would be in their interest to send as strong a message as possible.

It'd be against my near-term interests, as an America. But the strategy is clear.

I was disappointed to learn that the condition from this Slate headline was not 'repeatedly accidentally serving your child a plate of snakes.'

Got to cancel Comcast today after years of crappy service. Yay!

As a final indignity on the way out the door, their automated menu system wouldn't let me speak to the cancellation department until I'd allowed them to send a refresh signal to the modem I disconnected last week and wait 10 minutes.

Like, I understand that unforeseen delays happen, but, man, UPS. I call 15 minutes after the four hour delivery window to be told that the driver is 31 stops away from my address. 31. And that in no way changed the expected delivery window for this stupid package that I have to sign for. Amazing.

"Press 2 to continue holding" should be illegal. Thanks, UPS!

Everyone has advice for Democrats these days, and I'm no different. Here goes:

You can't convince racists to be less racist by calling them racist. It feels good in the moment to label them, but you're not winning converts, you're entrenching their position.

I'm a little late to the party on this one, but Season 1, Episode 5 of Mythic Quest is peak TV. Why is Cristin Milioti not in everything? She does fall-in-love-fall-out-of-love-fall-in-love-maybe? better than anyone working.

I miss Christmas episodes of TV shows. And sweeps. Now that everything's streaming it's all out of time. No anchors. Everything happens in an undifferentiated present tense.
